PigeonAdmin -- PigeonAir Project

PigeonAdmin is an Open and Free (as in Free Speech) GPL Web Administration Interface to administer mail servers based on PigeonDeliver. PigeonAdmin was written as part of the PigeonAir Project. Purpose of the PigeonAir Project is to release a complete and Free GPL solution to easily build up clustered, scalable and modular email services, targetted to satisfy all ISP needs.

PigeonAdmin is a Web Administration Interface written in PHP to administer mail servers based on PigeonDeliver. PigeonAdmin has many features and advanteges when compared to similar projects:

  • Complete support for skins. All PigeonAdmin output is xml, while skins are simple and standard xsl files that take care of transforming the xml in any html you may like.
  • PigeonAdmin does not need to write any data on the phisical disk it is installed on. All configurations are made effective by just accessing a database. This means that, for example, in a clustered environment you may have a battery of web administration interfaces completely separated from the mailservers themselves.
  • Very highly configurable: it allows users to choose their own configuration for every part of the delivery, including, for example, if they want their emails to be checked by an antivirus, if they want to enable a vacation message, which message to sent while on vacation, which filters to apply to cleanup the email using the Anomy Sanitizer...
  • Enforces a very simple role and privileges mechanism, allowing administrators to force configuration for all users of a given domain, to choose which users can access their own configuration or which parts of the configurations they are allowed to modify...
  • Many operations are made easy and well defined. Renaming of users doesn't loose emails, it is possible to redirect all the emails of a given domain on another domain, to create a catchall and to enable/disable IMAP/POP3 access of users...
  • Very modular design. The internal API make it a matter of hours to write a new module to support new features.
  • Fully UTF-8 compliant, allowing any character to be used in any of the interface modules.
  • Powerfull yet quite easy to use.

PigeonAdmin is probably one of the most powerful components of the PigeonAir project, and has already proved its reliability and ease of use on many installations.
